Sunday was the big day. Our little girl turned one. Saturday was the big party. Lots of family and fun. Lots of icing everywhere. A special thanks to everyone who was able to come to the party. We really had a wonderful time and enjoyed the company. Thank you so much. And for those who weren’t able to make it to our corner of the country, hopefully we’ll have some pictures posted soon.
Today, however, the little peanut got to go to the doctor for her one-year exam. Here are her stats at 52 weeks + a couple days:
Weight: 19# 14oz (~25 percentile)
Height (because she can walk now): 30.25″ (75-90 percentile)
Hat Size: 44.75cm (~50 percentile)
[I’ve updated the stats on her album page. I’ve been having problems with Freewebs of late and haven’t been able to edit my pages there. Things seem to be better…for now.]

So tonight, while doing our normal walking tour of the kitchen, watching the tATTS!!! (though today they are all dougs), Linnaea and I decided to play a new game of controlled falling. I hear in some parts such activity is referred to as walking.
Her confidence is still pretty low, she can do far more than she lets herself at this point, but she had the biggest grin and was laughing, she knew she was doing something special. I had a hard time getting her to let go of my fingers and come to me without first sitting down. But once I got her to lean towards me, falling a bit, and she was sure that I was going to catch her, she started moving her feet. She took a good four steps in one go, grinning from ear to ear.
We’ll see if by her birthday this becomes her regular modus operandi, though I imagine at a much faster pace. I hear some call that running. We’ll see, also, if by her birthday we can finally baby-proof the house.

…all problems are nails. When your only word is “dog,” all things are canine.
Yes, I think it’s safe to say that her first word, at eleven months, is “dog.” Occasionally, it sounds more like “dock” or “duck” or… use your imagination, but she is loving it. Constantly.
