So tonight, while doing our normal walking tour of the kitchen, watching the tATTS!!! (though today they are all dougs), Linnaea and I decided to play a new game of controlled falling. I hear in some parts such activity is referred to as walking.
Her confidence is still pretty low, she can do far more than she lets herself at this point, but she had the biggest grin and was laughing, she knew she was doing something special. I had a hard time getting her to let go of my fingers and come to me without first sitting down. But once I got her to lean towards me, falling a bit, and she was sure that I was going to catch her, she started moving her feet. She took a good four steps in one go, grinning from ear to ear.
We’ll see if by her birthday this becomes her regular modus operandi, though I imagine at a much faster pace. I hear some call that running. We’ll see, also, if by her birthday we can finally baby-proof the house.

…all problems are nails. When your only word is “dog,” all things are canine.
Yes, I think it’s safe to say that her first word, at eleven months, is “dog.” Occasionally, it sounds more like “dock” or “duck” or… use your imagination, but she is loving it. Constantly.

Things are going along well here at Bubblesplat HQ, aside from our terrible blog-posting record of late (Holy Toledo! It’s been a MONTH since our last post. Yikes!).
Linnaea’s crawling like a pro, pulling herself up on anything & everything, and “walking” every chance she gets. If she’s sitting on a lap, her wont is to locate the lap owner’s fingers, grab one in each tiny fist, and try to lower herself to the floor. If she is successful, the lap owner becomes a hunched, shuffling thing while Linnaea screeches gleefully and traipses about.
We will post pictures soon.

She stood by herself for about five full seconds on Saturday! She’s also (kind of) starting to take steps without holding on! The playard has proven to be the perfect place for her at this stage. Some of her favorite toys live in it, the sides are high enough to keep her in without being so high that she can’t see over them, it doesn’t have any hard surfaces (so she’s fearless in there), and it’s narrow enough that she can cross from one side to the other without sitting down or going around the perimeter (controlled falling involved).

And Pater says she’s too young for the Sex Pistols…

5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:5-6, ESV)
Exactly four years after our wedding day, we buried a dearly loved friend who had been a member of our wedding party. I dressed our daughter in gray and black; I watched her explore twigs at our fallen friend’s grave.
Ten days later, we rejoiced at Christ’s victory over death.
6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7 And he will swallow up on this mountain
the covering that is cast over all peoples,
the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
9 It will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.†(Isaiah 25:6-9, ESV)
On Easter morning, Linnaea wore yellow and white.
